The First WORLD DUCATI WEEK - Bitsa, Massimo Bordi, and Me!
Posted on
Now a huge global event, World Ducati Week (also known simply as WDW) began in 1998 as a factory publicity event. And I was there at the very first one with my extra special bike, Bitsa ('Bitsa this & Bitsa that'!).
And so was Massimo Bordi!
Massimo Bordi is known as the architect of the 4-valve Desmo engine, and engineer behind the Ducati 851, which is the father of all Ducati Superbikes. He founded the racing arm of Ducati - Ducati Corse - and was General Director of Ducati until 2000.
And he sat on Bitsa in 1998.
Below you'll find a photo of the beautiful Bitsa today. And here's which 'Bitsa' which! :
Corsa Wheels - lent to Carl Fogarty for his first WSB win at Donington
ISR Calipers and M/Cylinder from Kevin Swantz's Suzuki GP Bike
Carbon Tank from Doug Polens Ferracci 888. Carbon Fuel cap too - even the Bellmouths are Carbon Fibre
All fasteners are Aluminium or Titanium
PLUS my spare 888 Race Engine
(With thanks to Keith Ringle for sending on the nineties photos)
